Catching the Wind: From photo to fiber
I have just about finished this piece. I have to do my final triming and then I think I will face it , rather than bind it. I usually like to post my photo and then my fiber, but as you can see, there is a sun bather on deck, which surprised me. I am not going to post the pictue. It was the color of the sails, against the water and sky, that caught my eye. What do you think?

Judy, I think this is fabulous! I've been thinking about combining fabric with painting, but can't get a feel for it yet. This is really impressive.
ReplyDeleteI followed the link to your blog from the Quiltart list, and I am so glad I did. This is a great piece. Yes the sails against the water is very pleasing to the eye. You did a super job making the water "wet" too. I'm new at this myself and really enjoy seeing the work of more accomplished art quilters. Thanks for the look!
ReplyDeleteWhoo who another great quilted painting!
ReplyDeleteThose sails are marvelous. Love the interplay between sky, water and sail colors. Nancy G Cook
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments. I took this piece to my quilt group today and they liked the water. It really helps me to get some feedback. Thank you all!

I keep coming back to this... I, too, followed your link from the QA list. Love those sails, and the 'glow' reflected in the water.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your post to my blog re: Losses... it brought me back here...a two-fold benefit, I could thank you and ...to look again at this lovely piece.
I am wondering about the size of it and what method did you use for getting the photo onto the fabric?
